Grow ECD Programme Centres Can Now Earn SACE Professional Development Points

Growing the ECD sector starts with growing the people who work in it. That’s why we’re excited to share that our Introduction to Grow training programme is now SACE accredited.

What does SACE accreditation mean?

The South African Council for Educators (SACE) is the professional body responsible for promoting and managing the ongoing professional development of educators in South Africa through its Continuing Professional Teacher Development (CPTD) Management System. SACE approves quality professional development providers and endorses training activities that allow educators to earn Professional Development (PD) points.

For educators who are registered with SACE, this means that attending Grow ECD’s Introduction to Grow training now contributes towards their Continuing Professional Teacher Development requirements by earning SACE Professional Development points.

Why is this important?

Having a SACE-accredited training programme is an important milestone for Grow ECD. It recognises that our training meets the standards required for endorsed professional development and gives educators the opportunity to build their knowledge while earning recognised professional development points.

Who can attend this training?

Our training programmes are not open to the general public. They form part of the support offered to ECD centres participating in the Grow ECD Small Business Programme, our three-year programme designed to help centres improve both the quality of early learning and the sustainability of their business.

As more of our training programmes become SACE accredited, teachers and practitioners in our Grow Programme centres will have even more opportunities to earn professional development points while strengthening their skills and knowledge.

How to register for SACE?

1. Fully completed SACE application form (Original Form)
2. Certified copies of a complete academic record stating that the qualification has been completed and indicating the date of graduation together with the certified copy of the professional qualification (graduation certificate)
3. Educators with Diplomas in Grade R must also submit a matric certificate or an ECD level 4 certificate together with a complete academic record.  
4. Certified copy of NSC or Matric certificate
5. Certified copy of identity document.
6. In the situation where a qualification certificate has been lost, a declaration from the institution where the qualification was issued or Department of Education stating that the qualification was completed and the certificate was issued during a graduation ceremony.  This document must be on the institution’s letter head, dated, signed and stamped.
7. All of the above mentioned documents must be submitted before the SACE certificate can be issued. 
8. No INTERNET, FAXED OR EMAILED DOCUMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
